Since its debut in the summer of 2020, Wrestling with The Champ has quickly established itself as THE laugh-out-loud sports comedy podcast for wrestling fans. With over 1,500 followers across social media, most of them wrestlers and wrestling fans, there's only one word that should be used to define its audience… Loyal.
Fans of this no-holds-barred sports comedy have followed the Ginger Ninja’s adventures from speaker to stage. Not only by showing up at live performances during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022, but by supporting a fundraising campaign on Ko-fi, donating almost £2,000 towards the running costs of the performances.
It doesn’t stop there. One loyal fan was spotted in the crowd at the Super Bowl of sports entertainment, WrestleMania 38, wearing a Wrestling with The Champ t-shirt (see supporting evidence). And, when the Ginger Ninja rocked up in Cardiff alongside 70,000 fans at WWE’s Clash at The Castle in Cardiff this past September, he was besieged with selfie requests in an opportunistic appearance that lead to a 5% spike in new listeners the following week.
Wrestling with The Champ aims to repay its fans' loyalty in spades with a brand new live show on tour in 2023, and the creation of exclusive subscriber-only content on Patreon. It’s fair to say that for lovers of wrestling, the future isn’t bright… It’s ginger!
